WELCOME BIJ OUToMatic!
OUToMatic is een street-art festival.
Een levend festival van 20juli tot 21 augustus 2011 in Leuven.
Enkele muren zichtbaar vanuit M en ook enkele muren in de stad zullen beschilderd worden. Ook zullen er allerhande ingrepen in de stad plaatsvinden.
Street-art gaat hierover. Over ingrijpen in het stedelijke landschap.
Ingrepen die iets toevoegen maar even goed iets kunnen uitwissen.
Het gaat over spelen met wat voorhanden is, over anders kijken naar de omgeving.
Het gaat over ingaan op een uitnodiging.
Nationale en internationale kunstenaars laten zien hoe zij deze zomer op die uitnodiging in zullen gaan.
Street-art wordt ook wel post-graffiti genoemd.
Een, voor sommigen, voor de hand liggend vervolg op graffiti.
Graffiti: de underground. Street-art: de brug naar above-ground.
Maar steeds de straat als playground.
Naast het street-art gedeelte krijgt ook graffiti in al zijn vormen een mooie plaats in het festival.
Op het binnenplein van het terras van M, links van de inkom aan de Vanderkelenstraat zal er gedurende het hele festival een tweedelige houten wand staan die dagelijks ter beschikking staat van allen die iets willen delen.
Toys of Kings, iedereen is welkom.
(*Wel eigen verf meebrengen en oppassen met de vloer).
Het festival zal constant ‘under construction’ zijn. Net zoals de stad zelf.
Van begin tot eind kunnen er dingen verschijnen maar evenzeer weer verdwijnen.
Er zal geen enkel moment zijn waarop alles tegelijk zichtbaar is.
Ingrepen kunnen soms van zeer korte duur zijn.
Vandaar dat het festival begeleid wordt door deze blog die het hele festival op de voet zal volgen. Foto’s van ingrepen en toelichtingen allerhande zullen u hier aangeboden worden.
Doet u zelf een ingreep of bent u getuige en hebt u daar fotomateriaal van, dan kan u dat delen. Stuur het dan als de bliksem door naar outomatic2011@gmail.com

WELCOME TO OUToMatic!
OUToMatic is a street-art festival.
A living festival from 20 of July to 21 of August in Leuven, Belgium.
Some walls visible from inside of the museum M (http://www.mleuven.be/en/index.jsp) and also some walls in town will be painted. Different sorts of interventions will happen throughout town.
This is what street-art is about. To intervene in the urban landscape.
Interventions that can add something but also erase something.
It’s about playing with what’s around, about looking differently at your surroundings.
About accepting an invitation.
National and international artists will show you how they interprete this invitation.
Street-art is also called post-graffiti.
For some, an obvious continuation of graffiti.
Graffiti: the underground. Street-art: the bridge to above-ground.
But always the street as the playground.
Next to the street-art-part there will be a prominent place for graffiti in this festival.
On the lower terrace of M, left from the entrance there will be a temporary painting wall that will be available on a daily basis to anyone interested in sharing something and this throughout the whole festival.
Toys or kings, all are welcome.
(*Bring your own paint and please mind the floor)
The festival will be constantly ‘under construction’. Like the city itself.
From beginning to end, things may appear but also quickly disappear.
There won’t be a single moment where everything will be visible at the same time.
Interventions may have a very short lifespan.
